VZ BENEFITS OPEN ENROLLMENT
Open enrollment for benefit year 2009 for
Verizon employees will be November
12- November 29, 2008. VZ will not be sending comparisons
charts to you automatically. You may call 877-489-2367 to have side by
side comparisons sent to you, or you may go to www.verizon.com/benefits to print them.
Members with MEP or MEP/PPO will be mailed a brochure for a new
combined plan. If you make no choices you will default to the new
combined plan.
If you have the Aetna PPO you must select a new insurance plan.
You have two choices for Dental Insurance, Met Life or United
Concordia.
NEXT STEP REGISTRATION
Registration is ongoing for Next Step. You can register On
Line or by Telephone.
On Line registration will be October 20, 2008 to
January 16, 2009. Click HERE
and follow prompts for N.E. Registration.
Registration by Telephone will be January 5 thru
January 16, 2009 by calling 1-877-268-4111 9 AM to 4 PM

MA AFL-CIO SCHOLARSHIPS
The 51st Annual Massachusetts AFL-CIO Scholarship Program is now
accepting applications. We are excited for another year of awarding
scholarships to deserving high school seniors. To qualify you must:

Be a High School Senior planning to pursue a form of higher
education next fall
·
Sign up with the exam coordinator at you school by December 19, 2008
·
Take the Labor History Exam on February 4, 2009
·
Download and complete the application & return to MA
AFL-CIO no later than December
19, 2008

UNION PLUS SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM
Since 1992, the Union Plus Scholarship
Program has awarded more than $2.5 million to students of working families who
want to begin or continue
their post-secondary education. Over 1,700 families have benefited from our
commitment to higher education. The Union Plus Scholarship Program is
offered through the Union Plus Education Foundation.
The deadline for application submission is January 31, 2009.
